about  Salem  ONE

Salem ONE started in 2023 with a group of pastors hungry for more for our city and some deep questions. What would it look like for the church of Salem to stand together in heart and ministry as ONE? What obstacles would we need to overcome? Why has that reality always felt so far out of reach? What would it cost us to get there?  And what if we actually did it? What would happen to Salem?

This led to many pastors gathering quarterly for years to process these questions and seek out the foundations of a Citywide Church Vision. But most of all we gathered to connect with each other and fight for the relationships that will be the foundation of it all. It became clear that if we are to have a city-wide vision and partner to see all Salem saved, that will have to start with TRUST. And trust comes when we actually know each other; when we choose to see beyond our denominational hats, or Christian circle stereotypes but see one another as a family that deeply loves Jesus, on the same mission, in the same city to see His Kingdom come.

We have learned a lot, worked through our Identity as the one church of Salem, our purpose and our calling together. And In October 2025 we finalized the establishing of a steering team of Salem pastors to help give leadership and guidance to the ongoing Mission and work. We brought in some amazing gifted administrative support. layered in organizational structure (yes even with out being a org.) and outlined roles and goals and now the once impossible thing, is happening.

Why is Salem ONE different? - Because it is pastor led. You pastors are the spiritual leaders of Salem and together carry the full picture of God's heart beat for our city. This only works when you lead it!

This is not a club, a fad, or a unity event. It's YOU the Church of Salem. Its what God is already doing in our city, Salem ONE is here to help take all that Kingdom activity and CONNECT it together. Salem ONE is here to be a bridge for relationship and the work of the Kingdom in Salem. We don't need to reinvent the wheel every time we feel God speak about a work he wants us to do. Perhaps He intended us to do it together with other ministries who are also hearing and desireing the same things!

Statement of faith

While we know that we don't always believe or interpret scripture the same, unity at he expense of the power of the Gospel and the glory of Christ is not acceptable, and that's not actually unity at all.  If we want to stand as ONE in Salem it can only be done around the foundations of our faith in His Word. The pastors in participation have come together in agreement around these doctrinal foundations for those who desire to stand together in this work:

Authority of Scripture:
We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the 66 books of the Holy Bible as the complete canon of God's testimony to mankind. We esteem Scripture as the very Word of God, inerrant in its original form. We do not accept any doctrine which contradicts the clear whole council of Scripture.

Jesus:
Jesus is fully man and fully God. One with the Father and the Holy Spirit.  Jesus was born of a virgin by the seed of the Holy Spirit Himself. He lived, died, was buried, and rose back to life on the 3rd day, he ascended into heaven and is seated with God at his right hand on His very throne. God has given Jesus all authority in heaven and on earth. And He will return again to Judge the living and the dead. There is no salvation apart from Him.

Trinity:
There is one God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit; these are equal in every divine attribute, yet distinctly three.

Salvation through Christ alone:
All have sinned and are therefore under the sentence of death through sin, therefore all must trust in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus for the total forgiveness of sins. There is no other way to reconcile with God or escape from eternal judgment except through the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins and and His resurrection through which we now have new life. Salvation is by the Grace of God recieved through Faith in His substitutionary death and resurrection.

Water Baptism:
Water baptism should be by total immersion and accomplished shortly after commitment to the Lordship of Jesus and His atoning sacrifice for our sin. This ordinance is a personal and public statement of ones faith and identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Return of Jesus:
We believe in the literal, physical return of the Lord Jesus Christ to rule on earth with His saints. We believe in the resurrection of both the just and the unjust for the day of judgment.

Social and Moral:
Marriage is between one man and one woman and is the only union acceptable by God in the scriptures. (Heb 13:4, Matthew 19:2-9, Mark 10:8-12, 1Cor 7:2, 1 Tim 3:2)

Gender: God made mankind Male and Female, and God blessed them- There are only two genders and those are assigned by God in our DNA at conception, they cannot be changed. - Gender is as God defines it in the Bible. (Matthew 19:2-9, Genesis 2:20-24,  Genesis 1:27-28) Any other belief is not accepted by God in scripture (Lev 18:22, Lev 20:13, Rom 1:18-32, 1Cor 6:9-11, 1Tim 1:8-10, Jude 7).
