Our  Purpose

Salem ONE is not a organization. This is a collaborative mission to bring forth a citywide Church family of Salem pastors, churches, and Gospel centered ministries, devoted to relationship, united in purpose, and connected in Kingdom partnership to see all Salem transformed by the love of Christ.

WE CAn  STAND  TOGETHER

We are not a closed, private group. Not some "elite" gathering claiming to have all the unity answers. We are just Churches and pastors like you, that want to work together and fight though what is needed to see all Salem changed by the Gospel.  Together we can build or rebuild the bridges of relationship between us, move beyond denominational stereotypes and assumptions, and stand as ONE for our city.

Will you stand with us?

Your Church/Ministry Role?

Facing the giants

There are so many different challenges we must face as we seek to come together. Yet when we filter through it all, what is actually at the deep core of those challenges? These four listed below are not so much problems as they are paths.  Together we are facing these giants head on. The challenges that divide us can become roadmaps to our connection, We must decide that they are not unsurmountable; that by the power of God we can be all that He called us to be - ONE

pathways

Trust is discovered when real relationships develop between pastors. It's in that place that denominational assumptions and misunderstandings give way to real friendships and grace with each other's differences. We begin to see real people that love Jesus deeply, not just doctrines we don't align with fully. And we discover we have far more in common then we imagined. You could say it this way -"If you don't know me, then you wont trust me, and if you don't trust me, then we will never work together, have common vision, or make any attempt to reach Salem together for Jesus." You see TRUST is the missing ingredient that most unity efforts miss because it takes TIME. It's a long road. And one we are willing to take. TRUST is the beginning.

Once trust is present and we are able to see that we are truly on the same team, working for the same kingdom outcomes and Lord. What is left but to clearly define our citywide purpose as His Church. To formalize our collective vision and share that with all. To know that while we are individual ministries with unique callings, yet we are all working together  before the same Savior for the same ultimate end. We can actually be of "One Mind" Just as scripture tells us to be. This is not impossible for the intentional. Can you see 100 Salem churches with the same secondary citywide vision statement on their wall next to their own? We can!

While we will never agree on everything, we do agree on more then we realize. Yet we can never compromise the Gospel of Christ for the sake of our version of unity in Salem. The only version unity we want is one the Holy Spirit brings, and that will always be in alignment with the words of Christ. If we are preaching a different gospel on the street corner then this simply wont work.  So, where is the line? It is simpler then you may think. Did you know there are easily 100 churches in Salem actually that believe the same foundational doctrines about the authority of the Bible, Jesus, salvation, baptism and the way to eternal life? We may have very different approaches to the message, but we DO agree on more then we even recognize.

By no means the lest of the list, without physical functional steps and actions this is no more then a pipe dream. Unity needs to be something we can practically DO, not merely talk about. There are real steps to get there and surprisingly they are not complicated.  We know that unity is a deep heart reality; but in order to get to the heart it will have to get on our schedule. It will need a practical plan, organization, and discipline. Can being unified actually be a highly practical objective? We believe it has to be or it will never happen.  The practical will not take us all the way there, but it will position us before God making space for Him to do what only He can do.
